Meet and Greet Day and Protocols

It is hard to believe that we are into our fourth week of school in the 2020-2021 school year!  That means it’s close to our Meet and Greet Day (formerly known as Back to School day).  Due to the pandemic, we are making some adjustments to what this day will look like.  Here is the schedule for the day.

  • Students will attend school for a half day, beginning at 8:30 am until noon when they will be dismissed.
  • Teachers will have recorded an introduction to himself or herself and introducing the class.
  • You should be able to find the link to the recording on Knights login where you find your child’s schedule.

We do ask that you please take the time to watch the 1 – 2 minute videos so you have an idea of what your child will be learning this year.

We have made some adjustments to our playground protocols.  For our playground time, I have some used basketballs, soccer and volleyballs that are available for students to use.  There is a bin in the court across from Knight’s Castle.  Students must return the balls into the container when the whistle blows.  Balls left on the field may be lost or damaged.  Students, please be responsible to return the balls to the bin.

We are also asking students to keep their masks on while they are playing on Knights Castle, shooting baskets or bumping volleyballs on the courts.  Only students running on the field, playing vigorously can have their masks off.  Teachers will be monitoring this, and we ask students to comply when teachers ask you to keep your masks on.

After school, we are asking students to leave campus and go home, unless you are scheduled to be in a sport practice or music lesson.  We also ask that students not come to campus on the weekends unless they have a sport practice for right now or there is a parent with him/her and following protocols.  We may begin to open things up later.

Lunch time is one of the times where students are the most vulnerable during the day because they have their masks off.   We also have found a couple of students sharing snacks or food.  We strongly advocate that students do not share food with each other.  It would be good to review with your child the importance of keeping masks on during the day and sharing food.

Temperature logs are mostly completed each day. The temperature log is a way for our students to stop and think about how they are feeling, to sense how their body is doing.  Please remember if a member of the family has a fever of 38.0C or higher, the children should stay home until that member has been checked out by a health professional.

I am so proud at how students are adjusting to the new ways of doing school.  Thank you for working with us to make sure that students remain safe and healthy.  I will continue to pray that we all may stay healthy and well.
